Lessons
Big Heart Equine keeps positive horsemanship and the therapeutic benefits of horseback riding as key components to lessons. Lessons range from 30 minutes to 1 hour depending on the goals for each individual. Big Heart Equine operates at Garret Mountain Equestrian Center along side Elite Equine Group. We have loads of wonderful school horses for our programs thanks to Elite Equine Group! Leasing and boarding options are available at with Elite Equine Group. Please reach out for more information.
Who is Big Heart Equine?
Big Heart Equine was founded and created by Rebecca Salberg, LAC. Rebecca found her love for horses at the age of 5 when in Montana. The second Rebecca was in the saddle, she was hooked. This passion continued as she started her riding career at Smoke Rise Riding Club. Rebecca began showing regularly as she aged and moved to West Milford Equestrian Center to focus on Hunter/Jumpers. After showing in the Bit O' Straw Classic at HITS in 2009 and placing 9th overall, Rebecca wanted to explore more riding disciplines. In 2011, Rebecca moved to the jumper ring where she learned her love for speed! Her love for ponies developed after having a successful show season. Rebecca rode for Sacred Heart University's NCAA and IHSA Equestrian team for one year. Rebecca moved back home to continue her education at Caldwell University and continued her riding at numerous barns where she worked green horses for lesson programs. Rebecca founded Misty Mountain Acres and began her teaching career in 2018. Rebecca moved back to the Elite Equine Group in 2021 to continue her teaching along side their team at Garrett Mountain Reservation. Rebecca currently is a Licensed Associate Counselor with the state of New Jersey and hopes to continue building a therapeutic program. Rebecca has specialized in trauma-focused care as well as crisis intervention.

From DD level needs to individuals who feel they would benefit from some time with a horse, we strive to provide the correct fit for each person. Please contact directly for current pricing and packages available. We are a DDD approved site. Horses are healing for those who may be experiencing grief as well as other hardships. With our trauma-informed approach, we can assist with such struggles.
